“I was attending a seminar when I heard God’s calling to serve in Ministry”

A Christian for 15 years Pastor Peter has already planted 20 churches. Find out how he did it.

One of the villages in Myanmar

I come from Chin State, a small town located in Western Myanmar. I was raised in a Christian family but must admit that I only began my relationship with God through Jesus, at the age of 17.

In 1998, I was attending a seminar when I heard God’s calling to serve in Ministry. Soon after, I decided to further my studies in a Bible College in Yangon for the next four years.

It was during my studies that I heard God speaking to me and drawing me to the Golden Triangle, a province in Eastern Myanmar where I live and work now. It was confusing at the time, but took a leap of faith and continued to listen to God.

In 2003, a year after my graduation, I moved to Mong Hsat, a town in Eastern Myanmar. It was there that I pioneered our first church, Foursquare Gospel Church.

There were no mapped out plans or instructions to follow. I simply shared the gospel with the village heads, educated the children and provided medical outreach to those in need. It was all through God’s grace and direction that I was guided through the whole process.

With God’s blessings, since then, we have successfully planted 19 more churches. God has inspired me to share the good news since my college days and I intend to continue sharing and growing His Ministry. I believe that this was all part of God’s plan.

We currently have 10 churches running Alpha. Alpha has provided us with an effective avenue in which to evangelise. As of today, we are pleased to announce that over 150 lives have been transformed through Alpha in our churches.

If I were to extend my advice to those interested in starting an Alpha, I would advise them to be confident in God’s ability in creating something out of nothing. Do not be afraid and do not worry about what you are lacking, but be thankful for the wisdom and guidance God provides us.
