From 16th-17th June 2015, the Alpha Asia Pacific Hub in Kuala Lumpur was abuzz with delegates who attended Alpha’s showcase event – Experiencing Alpha 2015. 164 church leaders and representatives from 9 countries around the Asia Pacific region attended this event which was aimed at exposing the delegates to as much of the culture of Alpha as possible while sharing with them what Alpha is and how it works.
Experiencing Alpha provided an intimate programme for senior church leaders and their key leaders to “look under the hood” of Alpha. The event allowed them to experience Holy Trinity Bukit Bintang (HTBB) which is located in the heart of the Alpha Asia Pacific Hub, as a church community and Alpha as an evangelistic expression of that community.
Sheela Isaac from Bangalore, India loved the testimonies of transformation that was shared. According to her, “Alpha certainly is a very good model as there is food, fun and learning.”
The event has inspired many church leaders to integrate Alpha into their churches and to reach out especially to the young generation. Zipora Rebeka from St. Paul Anglican Church in Bandung, Indonesia sums it up nicely with her zeal, saying, “I’m really inspired! I can’t wait to go to Bandung to use this concept and start with a new team and I want to share to the other people at Depo plus the other cities or to the other islands like the Kalimantan Barat.”
Experiencing Alpha 2015 introduces a new perspective for church leaders to bring the message of Christ to the nations. It was not only just a time of envisioning and equipping but also a time for these church leaders around the region to come and encounter Jesus and to be refreshed.
