Featuring

Rev. Dr. Miles Toulmin is the Executive Director of Alpha Asia Pacific and Vicar of Holy Trinity Bukit Bintang (HTBB), the church that is the home to the Alpha Asia Pacific Hub in Kuala Lumpur. Miles recently received his D. Min. in Church Planting from Asbury Theological Seminary. 

Miles is married to Sarah, and together they served under Nicky and Pippa Gumbel for 7 years at Holy Trinity Brompton in London, before moving to Malaysia to plant HTBB in 2014.

Sarah Toulmin has worked in publishing and education. She’s the author of ‘The Baby Bible’ which has been translated into 34 languages and sold over half a million copies.

Miles and Sarah have known one another since kindergarten, have been married for 27 years and have 3 children.

Pastor Benny Ho is the Senior Pastor of Faith Community Church in Perth, Western Australia, and the apostolic leader of D-Net Inc, a network of more than 20 disciple-making churches in the Asia Pacific Region.  He is the leader of the Marketplace Track under the Love Singapore Movement and the Founder of Arrows College.  

Pastor Benny is passionate about expository preaching and has a life goal of preaching through every book of the Bible. He is married to his biggest supporter, Cecilia, and is the proud father of three, Joel, Abigail, and Rachel. He also takes joy in being grandfather to 4 grandchildren.

Philip Lyn is the founder and senior pastor of Skyline SIB Church, Malaysia, a vibrant and growing city-church that prioritises discipleship and the workplace. He studied medicine at Oxford and Biblical studies in London. He is both a practicing medical doctor and a pastor and leads a full team of bi-vocational pastors who integrate secular work and church ministry as one calling. He ministers widely in many nations and has released his third book on Christians in the Workplace called “The Invasive Kingdom”. His first two were “Slingshots” and “The Call of Issachar”.

Kenneth Chin is the Founding Senior Pastor of Acts Church in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and Founding Director of Asian Youth Ambassadors (AYA), a not-for-profit youth organisation. For over 30 years now he has dedicated his life to inspiring people of all ages – especially young people – to live their best lives.

As a pastor/ church pioneer beginning with Acts Church in the year 2000, Kenneth has led Acts to grow from 3 people to over 3,000 to date, across 50 churches in 10 nations – with a clear mission to “make disciples that will make the difference”. His wife Sandra of 29 years serves together with him as Senior Minister.

Apart from that, Kenneth has also started about 16 social businesses in various industries to help young people realise their dreams and to reach and raise the underprivileged in communities. 

Kevin Loo is the Founder and Senior Leader of Collective, a contemporary church located in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

His God-given vision to pioneer and to build a strong local church has led to the birth of Collective in 2001 with just a handful of people to begin with. Today, Collective is a thriving congregation with a global movement spanning 5 different countries.

It is Kevin’s deepest desire to see Christians reach their fullest potential in God. His inspiring and uncompromising preaching has touched and transformed many lives not just in Malaysia, but other countries as well as he travels extensively to speak.

Being a bi-vocational pastor, Kevin runs his own leadership training company @aleader, paints professionally @kevinloopaints and dabbles in fashion with his own brand @sanctvsofficial.

Bishop Ambo as he is affectionally known is Bishop of Kalookan, a diocese that has a population of 1.6 million people not including undocumented Filipinos, in what is termed  the fourth-most populous city in the Philippines. Bishop Ambo is a Bible scholar, a mission focused pastor and what we find most fascinating is – an incredible story teller with published titles under his authorship. He is also the President of the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines and the incoming Deputy President of the Federation of Asian Bishops Conference.

In an exclusive interview with Radio Veritas Asia, in September 2022, Bishop Ambo commented that his “main task in the Church is really to evangelize; it is really to engage in mission” adding that “to evangelize is to bring people to Christ, to make Christ personally known to people”

Melinda Dwight is the National Director of Alpha Australia, and a visionary leader and pioneer of church growth across Australian denominations. Under Melinda’s leadership, Alpha Australia has progressed towards the goal of reaching 1,000,000 people with the opportunity to explore Life, Faith & God by 2025, having recently celebrated its 800,000th participant. The nationally significant reach of Alpha Australia continues to grow year on year, with continued innovation supporting evangelisation by all denominations in every season.

Melinda previously served as the Senior Pastor of the Imagine network of churches for 15 years, and was the first woman to be elected a State Executive member in the Australian Christian Churches.

Melinda’s journey in following God has taken her from visiting prisons cells across Africa to international boardrooms. Wherever she is, her passion is to share her faith and raise disciples, while encouraging others to do the same.

Melinda is married to John and they have one daughter, Nicaela who is recently married to Christiaan. Melinda swears by Melbourne’s mysterious ‘magic’ coffee each morning.

James Stinson is the Global Associate Youth Director for Alpha, working with teams all over the world to create spaces for young people to ask the big questions of life, faith and meaning. James was born in Australia; he now lives in Brighton UK with his wife Elisabeth and three young children and serves on the leadership team of St Peter’s Brighton. James studied at St Mellitus Theological College, has over a decade experience of youth work and is passionate about reaching and releasing the leaders of the next generation.

Katherine is the Associate Vicar of Holy Trinity Brompton (HTB), working closely with Archie and Sam Coates in leading the church. She was born and raised in London, and after studying law at university, went on to practice law as an Attorney and later Partner at a firm in New York City. In 2016, she joined the HTB staff team and served as Director of Strategy before later training for ordination at St Mellitus College.

Feng is a pastor at Holy Trinity Bukit Bintang overseeing the areas of youth and one of the services. Feng has been a youth worker for 8 years serving across youth ministries in different organizations.

Ps. Isaac Ling is in the Senior pastoral office and pastors the Next Generation (children, youth, college, young adults). He also oversees all cells and ministries in SIBKL. He is passionate in developing leaders, teaching theology and discipleship. He loves preaching and moves in worship and the Holy Spirit. He is married to Pr Kim Lian and is a proud father to two sons, Jedidiah and Macarius.

Mark Knight is the principal of St Paul’s Theological College (SPTC), a young, vibrant college community based in Kuala Lumpur that offers on campus and online courses in theology, discipleship, mission and ministry for Malaysia and beyond. He also serves as a pastor at HTBB. Passionate about bringing transformative and life-giving theology to the heart of the church, Mark’s research, teaching and writing focusses on biblical interpretation, prayer and the Christian life, church history, and contemporary theology – in particular, the life and work of Dietrich Bonhoeffer. Originally from the UK, he now lives here in KL with his wife, Rachel, and their two young children. 

Ben Higgins is passionate about Jesus and helping people discover freedom in Christ to reach their full potential. Ben has over fifteen years of ministry experience across youth ministry, church planting, and local church leadership, and holds a Masters of Leadership. He currently serves as the National Engagement Director for Alpha Australia, where he leads an innovative and high capacity team, focused on serving the Australian Church. 

Ben and his wife Emily were married in 2008 and have four incredible children, Israel, Sophie, Audrey, and Evelyn. Together they carry a passion to take the message of Jesus to every Nation.

Isaac Smith is an emerging leader with 10 years of leadership under his belt….as he started serving at his local church when he was 13. Isaac has completed an Advance Diploma at Hillsong College, has been the Youth Creative Director for Hillsong Queensland and currently is working at Alpha Youth Australia as a Youth Ministry Specialist. He is passionate about evangelism, to see the next generation live a sold out life for Christ. Isaac will also be featuring on the next Alpha Youth Series as one of the hosts.

Transforming Parishes 2024 (TP24)

This year, ARG24 will have two distinct tracks with a special conference for Catholic delegates. Transforming Parishes is a Catholic specific conference for Catholic leaders, clergy, and educators within the Catholic Church. This year’s conference is happening from 23-24 June 2024 and will include live worship, moments of prayer, inspiring speakers and the opportunity to connect with leaders from across the region.

Father Jason Laguerta heads the Office for the Promotion of New Evangelization (OPNE) of the Archdiocese of Manila.

He is simultaneously the head of the Archdiocesan Institute for Research and Development (AIRD) of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Manila (RCAM).

He is also the parish priest of Santa Maria Goretti.

Ref Fr Jason is an extremely busy priest as he juggles three hats: evangelization, research, and parish priest , without comprising on any one of those.

Theodore “Ted” O. Te is a Filipino human rights lawyer, professor, and former Spokesperson of the Supreme Court of the Philippines

He graduated with a degree in psychology from the University of the Philippines, where he was involved in the student movement opposing tuition fee increases. 

In 1990, he received his law degree from the University of the Philippines College of Law

In 2012, he finished his master’s in law degree from Columbia University Law School.

Dr. Beena Sunny’s multifaceted journey includes 32 years of service as Associate Professor and Head of the English Department at St. Teresa’s College, before transitioning to Dean of Spiritual and Religious Life.

Her doctoral thesis explored the Dialectics of Faith in Denise Levertov and Emily Dickinson’s poetry. She is a member and animator of Jesus Youth International and is also lead female vocalist of Rexband, a contemporary Catholic band with 16 albums. As part of Rexband, she has performed in 22 countries and 6 World Youth Days.

Dr Beena was the only lay woman to represent India at the Asian Bishops’ Synod in Rome at the invitation of Pope John Paul II in 1998. She also participated, presented a paper and served as emcee at the Asian Mission Congress in Chiangmai, Thailand in October 2006. At a colloquium on “Sharing the Joy of the Gospel in Asia” organized by FABC-OE & FEMA in Bangkok in 2014, Dr. Beena presented a paper on “A Familial Reading of Evangelii Gaudium”.

In 2015, she was a delegate at the consultation meeting organized by the Pontifical Council for the Family in the context of the synod on the family.

Archbishop Simon Poh Hoon Seng was ordained a priest on July 31, 1988 for the archdiocese of Kuching.

Since ordination he has served as Assistant priest in two parishes until 1994 when he left for Pontifical Urbaniana University to study for a Licentiate in Missiology for two years.

After returning in 1996, he served as pastor for six years at St. Anne, Kota, Padawanand then become director of Director of the Commission for Vocations and also as Spiritual Director of the Commission for Youth.

He also worked as Chancellor of the archdiocese and Member of the College of Consultors, professor of Missiology and Spiritual Director of the St. Peter’s College Major Seminary, Kuching. He also coordinated the archdiocesan commission or mission and evangelization besides serving as pastor of the Cathedral of Kuching. 

Bishop George was born in Kerala, India. He joined the seminary in Shillong in 1970 and was ordained Priest in December 1982. As the Indian State of Arunachal Pradesh was forbidden territory for the Gospel, during the theology days in Shillong, Bishop George connected with many students of the Arunachal tribes and they slowly became Christians.

In 1983, Bishop George took up residence in Tinsukia, Assam and continued to work for the tribes of Arunachal. The Bosco Bible School was started, and from there the tribes were further connected with. In 1992, he took up residence in Borduria village and in 2005 was made the Bishop of Miao.

In order to be familiar with the tribes and to dialogue with the officials who were hostile, Bishop George did a PhD in Social Sciences and the Lord has continued to bless the mission over the years.

Huw is an experienced leader across faith-based and educational contexts in local, national and international roles. He is currently the Global Catholic Youth Director for Alpha. He has previously built and implemented new expressions of Church ministry across Africa, Europe and the Pacific and, most recently, in his home Archdiocese of Canberra & Goulburn, Australia.

Huw loves Jesus, and has a desire for all to be invited to belong to the Church, believe in Christ and become missionary disciples. His wife, Chloe, have been married since 2017 and welcomed their first child, Archie, into the world in 2019 and their second, Atticus, in late 2022.

He also has a passion for learning, which has led him into tertiary studies in law, international development, education and theology.
